He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Marion Nelson, Sr. and Marie Dark Nelson; his wife Irene McLeod Nelson; and his siblings, Carol Nelson and Joe Frank Nelson.
He is survived by: his sisters, Rubye Morgan, Julia Boylan, Yvonne Sellers and Bennye Frances Keene; and his siblings' children, Hope Nelson Pepe (Robert), Frank Nelson (Kelley) and Marc Nelson (Jennifer).
