He was predeceased by: his parents, Winston Hinson and Eady Branton Hinson; his wife Carolyn Hinson; and his son-in-law Robert Taylor. He is survived by: his children, Lana Jean Sizemore (Charles), Tami Taylor, Connie Hinson and James "Jimmy" Hinson; his grandsons, Arthur W. Smith and Mark Jones; his great grandchildren, Christopher D. Smith, Arthur J. Smith, Teresa Crews and Sherrell Williams; his friends, Sarena Sanders and LaMarcus Crews; and his pets, Gabby and Brody.
