He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Hines and Evelyn Hawkins Hines (Hilde Hines); and his brother Charles Hines. He is survived by: his daughters, Joanne Powers (Shawn), Patty Hines and Barbara Hines Thompson; his grandsons, Eric Powers (Lizzie), Matthew Powers (Peyton) and Daniel Thompson; and his brother Tommy Hines (Beth). He is also survived by one great-grandchild, and several nieces, grandnieces and nephews.
