He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Gilbert and Sybil Gilbert Patton; and his brother Bobby Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Elaine "Nicki" Gilbert; his children, Vanessa Gilbert Marshall and William Brent Gilbert (Robiann); his grandchildren, Ariail Gilbert Schmitz (Michael), Callie Gilbert, Will Marshall, John-Paul Marshall, Aaron Gilbert, Zach Gilbert and Lauren Marshall; and his sibling's children, Ceclia Gilbert Robinson and Chris Gilbert (Lauren).
The family will be accepting flowers or memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
