He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph L. Thompson and Daisy Thompson (Rogers); his spouse Trula "Penny" Gregory of Newport, Tennessee.; and his siblings, Boyd, Buck, Robert and Joan Bradshaw.
He is survived by: his daughter Susan Thompson Trawick; his grandchildren, Brig Gen Billy D. (Ret) and Brittany Clayton; his sons, Blake McDaniel and Billy; his children-in-law, Rick and Julie; his grandchildren, Blake, Austin and Abby; his great grandchild Julian; his brother Frank; and also, William Austin, Abby, Julian and Betty Jean Jones.
