He was predeceased by: his parents, John James Murphy Sr. and Estelle Plitnick Murphy; his daughter Karen Ann; and his brother John J. Murphy, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Gertrude Murphy; his son Gerry; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Murphy; his grandchildren, Stephen Murphy of Enterprise, Alabama and Courtney Murphy; his great grandchild Bryson Gay of Freeport, Florida; and his sister Marlene Taber of Franklin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
