John Moates Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Moates (Enterprise, Alabama), who passed away on March 15, 2019, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Harris Moates, Sr. (Pat) and Anne Rogers Moates; and his sister Mary Moates Joines. He is survived by: his wife Maxine Atwood Moates; his children, Justin Atwood Moates of Atlanta, GA and Amanda Moates Secrest; his grandsons, Jackson, Collier and Clay Secrest; his brother Tom Moates; his sister-in-law Olivia Atwood Williams of Montgomery, AL; his aunt Charlotte Moates Clark of Elba, AL; and also Alex Shipmon. He is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 P.M. until 2:15 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330 or to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 E. Ohio St., Suite 500, Chicago.
