He was predeceased by: his parents, Guthrie Mabrey and Katherine Mabrey. He is survived by: his wife Betty Wolff Mabrey; his children, John Guthrie Mabrey (Carla), Jay Luther Mabrey (Lupita) and Katherine Pearson (Chris); his brother Jay E. Mabrey; his grandchildren, Dillon Mabrey, Mackenzie Mabrey, McKenna Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Celest Mabrey, Matthew Mabrey, Mabrey Pearson and Fraser Pearson; and his aunt Ruth Rice.
