He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis H. Mason and Lois Cooper Mason; his wife Jeannine Burks Mason; his stepmother Naomi Mason; and his siblings, Nadine Jones and Bill Mason.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carol Mason and Lisa Highfield (Larry); his grandchildren, Katie Lassiter (Ben), Cara Thompson, Amanda Sluss (Kevin) and Andrew Hayes; his sister Ann Evans (Dwight); and his close friend Janice Black. He is also survived by brothers and sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
