He was predeceased by: his former wife Vera Jo Carlton; his grandchildren, Sophie Grace and Sydney Lane Carlton; and his parents, Paul and Virginia Carlton, Sr..

He is survived by: his wife Naomi Logan Carlton; his children, Daniel Carlton (Julie), John Carlton (Edy), Bentley Sharp (Amy) and Jennifer Alexander; and his grandchildren, Judson Carlton, Claire Dalziel, Griffon Carlton, Webster, Delaney Sharp, Zoey and Savannah Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Childhaven Residential and Foster Home.
