He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smallwood and Ruby Smallwood. He is survived by: his sisters, Susie Moses (Danny) of Decatur and Becky Stanky of Florence; his aunt Alice Stutts Caudill of Florence; his uncle Donnie Capley (JoAnn) of Killen; and his siblings' children, Jeremy Moses of Athens and Kim Gray of Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Alabama.
