He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ed and Pat Monroe (Gatlin); his grandson Benjamin Monroe Sandy; and his brother-in-law John Sherrod. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Monroe (Braswell); his children, Rebecca Monroe Sandy (Will) and Steven Monroe (Amanda); his sister Emily Sherrod; and his brother-in-law Roy Braswell (Vicki). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
