It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty O'Neal Sexton of Fort Payne, Alabama, born in Plainfield, Indiana, who passed away on September 9, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Lee Johnson and Wilhelmina Thompson Johnson; her husband Ernest Eugene O'Neal; her siblings, Paul N Johnson and Marion R Williamson; her daughter-in-law Anita W O'Neal; her grandchildren, Kirby C O'Neal, Jennifer Winters (O'Neal) and Jared M O'Neal; her son-in-law Johnny Bishop; and her nephews, Randy Millican and Darin Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Terry O'Neal (Sherry) of Fort Payne Al, Steve O'Neal (Lojuanna) of Fort Payne Al, Quintin O'Neal (Dojuana) of Fort Payne Al, Alan O'Neal (Janet) of Fort Payne Al, Sharron O'Neal-Bishop of Fort Payne Al, Linda O'Neal and Teresa Norris (Tony) of Henagar Al; and her grandchildren, Eric O'Neal, Ryan O'Neal, Greg O'Neal, Brett Walker, Joseph O'Neal, Cole O'Neal, Christopher O'Neal, Peyton O'Neal, Matthew O'Neal, Alex O'Neal, Spencer Winters, Duncan McGriff, Boston McRay, Amanda Whitfield and Kayla Hamilton. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved deeply, and a dear friend.
She so enjoyed and found comfort in her musical visits from Matt and Amanda Whitfield and family, and the pre-COVID Friday night gatherings of food and fun with her children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heartlite Hospice, Scottsboro, Al.
