He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Lee and Ruby Massey Mathews; his wife Helen Mathews; his son Daniel Mathews; his granddaughter Brianna Cook; and his brothers, J. L. and Ray Mathews.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Mathews (Barbara), Jan Cook (Craig), Vickie Greene (Paul) and Annette Wright (Dion); his sister Gladys Wallace; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Mathews, Laura Mathews, Julia Mathews, Desiree Cook, Colby Mathews, Skyler Mathews, Starla White, Shawne Greene, Sethe Greene and Lindsey Wright. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
The family is accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Ruhama Baptist Church.
