He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Mark and Jessie Ruth Haggard Abernathy. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Abernathy (Amanda) of Cedar Bluff, Brian Abernathy (Brittani) of Centre and Mark Abernathy (Melissa) of Cedar Bluff; and his siblings, Gwin Abernathy (Carolyn) of Centre, Billy Wayne Abernathy of Centre, Sara Ruth Hunter of Centre, Virginia "Dener" Slayton of Centre and Marie Corbin (AJ) of Armuchee. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Perry Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
