He was predeceased by: his wife Elise Doughty Hamiter. He is survived by: his children, John C. Hamiter, Jr. (Belle) of Keener, Meg Hamiter Jackson of Oneonta and Anita Hamiter Tucker (Paul LeRoy) of Vestavia; his grandchildren, Hallie Hamiter McKnight (Geoff), Wes Hamiter (Ann), Drew Jackson (Sissy) and Ashley Tucker (Josh Hammond); his great grandchildren, Stuart Douglass, Lucy Kate McKnight, Creede Jackson, Ben Luke Jackson and Baby Boy Jackson; and his sisters, Evelyn Hamiter Timmerman and Ann Hamiter Barksdale. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
