He is survived by: his wife Barbara Alverson; his daughters, Shannon Alverson Morrison (David) and Jessica Alverson Tollison (Brad); his grandsons, Braxton Lee Morrison, Luke Bradford Tollison, Charles Lane Tollison and Layton Graham Tollison; and his sister Bettye Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coates Bend Fire Department at 693 Molly Lane, Gadsden, Alabama, 35901.
