He was predeceased by: his father Victor Gewalt; his brother Shane Vance; and his grandparents, Lorene Black, Bill Gewalt and Pauline Lee.

He is survived by: his mother Judy Black; his son Kody Gewalt; his granddaughter Gracelynn Gewalt; his brothers, Ben Gewalt, Kenneth Gewalt (Michelle), Steve Vance (Brandi) and Scott Vance (Crystal); his aunt Barbara Jones (Jerry); his uncle Larry Black (Kay); and his close friends, John Farley, Brandi Bower, Johnny Tow and James "Grasshopper" Hauk. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
