With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Douglas R. Deru (Gadsden, Alabama), who passed away on February 25, 2018 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Deru; his daughter Cheri Kitchens; his son-in-law Ronnie Kitchens; his granddaughter Stefanie Deru; his parents, Ray Deru and Bea Deru; his brothers-in-law, Harold Scoccia and Tom Gentry; and his child Mildred "Millie" Deru.
He is survived by: his children, Debbie Boswell (Stan), Brenda Hamby (Jim), Doug Deru (Ginger) and Kenny Deru (Pam); his stepson David Sherman (Teresa); his grandchildren, Kevin Baswell (Kim), Annette Stephens (Kevin), Jason Kitchens (Wendy), Kim Nelson (Shawn), Tammy Baswell, Timmy Richardson (Tammy), Jennifer Deru, Lindsey Deru and Cory Sherman; his sisters, Marian Gentry and Evelyn Scoccia; and his children, Connie Boutwell and Bobbie Boutwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stefanie Kristen Deru Scholarship Fund at Metro Bank in Southside, Alabama.
