He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Stephens and Marie Davis; his nephew Leslie Buster East; his mother-in-law Gloria Kathryn Burns; and his siblings, Bobby Stephens, Burt Stephens, Charlie Stephens and Margaret Barfield (Drew).
He is survived by: his wife Carol Thrasher Stephens; his children, Kevin Stephens (Annette), Shanna Clifton (Jason), Emily Morgan (Derek), Steve Higdon, Linda George, Laura Paige (Patrick) and Cassie Thrasher; his siblings, Janice East (Mike), Charlotte Epperson (Harold), Jeff Davis and Eddie Davis (Amy); and his father-in-law Alex W. Burns (Stanley Jones). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the East Gadsden Baptist Church.
