He was predeceased by: his wife Betty J. Freeman; his grandson Dylan Walton; and his parents, Wallace Freeman and Ruth Freeman. He is survived by: his children, Gina Walton, Belinda Young (Thomas) and Jason Freeman (Pamela); and his sister Eloise Patterson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the "Bright Focus Foundation" for alzheimer's research, support.brightfocus.org.
