He was predeceased by: his parents, James Fred Hovater, Sr. and Jennie Maude Thompson Hovater; and his son Stanley Hovater. He is survived by: his children, Howard Hovater (Angela), Wil Hovater (Leslie) and Megan Hovater; his daughter-in-law Melody Hovater; his grandchildren, Abbie Hovater, Claire Jackson (Daniel), Reese Hovater, Shelby Hooper (Andrew), Harrison Hovater, Hayden Hovater, Wil Hovater, Jr. and Morgan Hovater; his great grandchild Eleanor Rose Jackson; and his brother Rod Hovater (Paula).
