She was predeceased by : her husband Redus Carroll; her son-in-law Johnny Plowman; her siblings, Walter James, Ramona Swindle and Evie Lee Hocutt; her grandchildren-in-law, Betsy Lott Plowman and Timothy Hollingsworth; and her parents, Carlos James and Florence Porter James.

She is survived by : her children, Sandra Plowman, Jimmy Carroll (Leona) and Joe Carroll (Ashley); her daughter-in-law Teressa Carroll; her brothers, Thomas James and Chester James (Wenice); her grandchildren, Robert Carroll (Brandy), Mandy Adkins (Joseph), Candi Stewart (Jeff), Angie Gardner (Cliff), Adam Plowman (Hope) and Amy Hudson; and her close friend Dellie Trull. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
