He was predeceased by: his father Gerald Wayne Benson Sr.; and his brother Gerald Wayne Benson Jr. A. He is survived by: his wife Deedra McNaughton Benson; his mother Frances Benson; his sister Leah Stonicher (Tony); his children, Frances "Grace" Benson Kelly (Jessie), Elizabeth "Colby" Benson Halford (Jody), Clay Braxton Benson and Ava Casey Benson; and his grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Halford, Hallie Grace Halford and Annie Joe Kelly.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Greenville (212 Fort Dale Rd, Greenville, AL 36037). A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
