He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Harry William Dearing, Jr. and Thelma Lucille Laxon; his wife Mary Spivey Dearing; his children, Whitman Stanford (Bruce) and Sheppard Dearing (Vickie); his brother Melton Dearing (Nathalie); his grandchildren, Emily Dearing Polson (Austin), Rosemary Kramer, Foster Dearing, Isabelle Kramer, Avery Dearing and Ryan Dearing; and his great grandchild Ford Sheppard Polson. He was also cherished by family members and friends.
