He was predeceased by : his parents, Dewitt Arnold Melton and Margaret Pearl Weatherall Melton; and his sisters, Jeannette Wilson and Brenda Mehlferber. He is survived by : his wife Jean Bice Melton; his children, James T. Melton (Betsy) of Daphne, AL, Scott Melton (Melinda) of Albertville, AL, Tim Melton (Wendy) of Hanceville, AL and Amy Russell (Lee) of Helena, AL; his grandchildren, Trey, Alex, Carson, Robert, Jamie, Christopher, David, Anthony, Tyler, Trent and Trevor; and his brother Larry Melton (Sylvia) of Columbus, MS.. He is also survived by numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
