He was predeceased by: his parents, Flaudie Patterson and Taft Patterson; and his siblings, June, Peggy and Donald.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Patterson (Aldridge); his children, Phillip Patterson (Candice Patterson), Bobby Joe Patterson II (Xing Li Patterson) and Nena Joann Patterson; his brother Billy Patterson; and his grandchildren, Joshua Patterson, Haley Patterson and Joseph Patterson. He is also survived by his wife, children and extended family.
