He was predeceased by: his parents, Peyton William and Clara Effie Gordon of Laurel, Mississippi.. He is survived by: his wife Cecelia Irene Gordon; and his children, Russell, Marilyn, Alesia and Julie. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Ann's Educational Fund.
