With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth (Betty) Martin (Hartselle, Alabama), who passed away on May 11, 2020 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Clyde Lyda and Velma Louise Thompson Lyda; her husband James Samuel Martin Sr.; and her brothers, Edward Witherby Lyda (Kathryn) and George Suell Lyda (Bettye Dean).
She is survived by: her children, James S. Martin, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Susan Martin Talmadge (Rick); her grandchildren, Nicholas Martin Holland (Carolyn), Roni Elizabeth Holland Haskell, James Chester Martin (Selena), William Hogan Martin and Christian Edward Martin; and her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Morgan Haskell, Lillian Judith Haskell, Ruby Katheryn Haskell, Anna Cecelia Holland, Samuel Martin Holland and Olivia Ray Holland.
In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama (105 Heatherbrooke Park Drive, Birmingham, AL 35242) or to Lads to Leaders at Hartselle Church of Christ (700 Sparkman Street SW, Hartselle, AL 35640).
