He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Lawrence Payne and Ida Lorine Walker Payne; and his siblings, Jack Payne, Sue Harrison, Lois Laney and Betty Jo Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Erick Payne (Sarah) of Hartselle One and Deborah Hollinger of Wichita; his stepson David Thomas (Stacey) of Pensacola; and his brother Gerald Payne of Decatur Six.
