He was predeceased by: his parents, John V. Sims and Margaret Freeman Sims; and his brother John V. Sims, II. He is survived by: his wife Shelba Chenault Sims; his sons, Dewayne Sims (Amy) and David Sims (Donna); his siblings, Rose Marie Ellis (Joel), Lou Ann Adams (Mike) and Billy Sims (Catherine Ann); his sister-in-law Ellen Sims; his grandchildren, Justin Sims, Tiffany Burke, Emily Sims, Joshua Sims and Lashay Terri; his great grandchild Parker Sims; and his close friend Colter Moore. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
