She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Layfette and Beatrice Aycock Pitt; and her children, Nancy and Robert. She is survived by: her friends, Dan and Judy Thomas; her sons, Jon Mark Howell (Carol) of Huntsville and Ray Nance Howell III (Joyce) of Lexington, NC; her brothers, Joe L. and Sonny Pitt; and her grandchildren, Jacob Howell, Ashley Patterson (Josh), Bart Patterson (Jehan), Megan Johnson (Matthew), Lynn Whitt (Roger), Della Fowler (Ryan), Knight Koonce, Ray Nance Howell IV (Sang), Andrew Howell (Melissa), Les Howell (Ashley) and Nicholas Howell (Ashley). She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to the Alabama-Mississippi chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
