He was predeceased by: his wife Lettie Spurgin; and his siblings, Pauline Gass, Irene Christopher, May Butler, Alvin, Roy and Marvin Spurgin.
He is survived by: his children, Rita Evans (Randy), Marvin Spurgin (Diane), Bruce Spurgin (Geraldine), Roger Spurgin (Rhonda) and Jimmy Spurgin (Tina); and his brothers, George Spurgin and Lewis Spurgin. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
