He is survived by: his parents, Marion Hickman and Emma Means Smith; his spouse Pearl Toon; his daughter Christie Stephens; his son-in-law Stanley Stephens; his son Rick Smith; his daughter-in-law Sherry Smith; his great grandchildren, Daniel Stephens and Emma Anne Stephens; his siblings, Doyce Smith, Masinah Hawkins, Elizabeth Hayes and Peggy Vinson; and his brother-in-law Jerry Toon.
He established a Christian Education lecture series, later scholarship, at Anderson University in memory of his beloved wife who died in 1995 after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease.
