He was predeceased by: his parents, Lummie Hobson and Dolores Williamson Shirley. He is survived by: his wife Mary Emertha Shirley; his children, Tim, Matt, Wade Shirley and Tammy Whitt; and his brothers, Robert of Tuscaloosa County, Jerry of Tuscaloosa County and Tim of Tuscaloosa County.
