He was predeceased by: his daughter Heidi Nicole McDonald; his parents, Earl McDonald and Annis McDonald; and his brothers, Jody McDonald, Pete McDonald and Mike McDonald.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Bober McDonald; his daughter Molly Brooks (Stephen); his grandsons, Charles McDonald, Tyler McDonald, Leland Brooks and Collier Brooks; and his sister Ann Banks.
