He was predeceased by: his parents, Minor Nixon and Katherine Nixon; his wife Carol Nixon; and his sister Ann Nixon Kay. He is survived by: his stepchildren, Jennifer Peters Dodd (Robert Dodd) and Andrew Peters; his grandchildren, Abigail Dodd Copeland (Brandon Copeland) and Spencer Dodd; his brother-in-law Harold Kay; and his nieces, Katherine Jones (Bob Jones), Caron Blanton (Danny Blanton) and Jennifer Postoak (Darren Postoak). He is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great nephews and dear friends.
