He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Hilliard and Edith Hilliard; his sister Mary Frances Sliz; and his son Alan Gilbert Hilliard. He is survived by: his wife Keren Gibb Hilliard; his son Derek Hilliard (Aaryn); his stepdaughters, Wendy Graham (Jay) and Michelle Thomas (Chris); and his grandsons, Corey Graham (Patience), Tyler Graham (Shannon) and Frank McCoy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of great friends.

Memorials may be made to NAMI Huntsville or to the North Alabama Food Bank.
