He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jean Yates and Betty Lou Yates (Johnson). He is survived by: his wife Cindy Boerner Yates; his children, Michael S. Green, Steven G. Yates and Emily N. Yates; his stepchildren, H. Grant Moore, Constance N. Hall and Remington S. Moore; and his brothers, Thomas Douglas Yates (Dottie), Ronald John Yates (Peggy) and David Boyd Yates. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
