He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Cole and John Hayden Sparks; his brother Jerry; his sister-in-law Ann Sparks; and his grandson John Parker Porch.
He is survived by: his wife Gail; his children, Sara Van Asch (Fraser) of Raleigh, NC, Anna Sparks of Chapel Hill, NC, Charlie Sparks of Hillsborough, NC, Lance McKoy (Laura) of Dallas, TX and Heather Porch (Jason); his grandchildren, Alan Van Asch, Spencer Porch, Jackson Porch and Sophie Porch; the mother of his children Sara "Scottie" Sparks; and his pet Prissy. He is also survived by many extended family members, friends.
