He was predeceased by: his parents, May Mikel (Galey) and Harry F. Galey; his stepfather Paul A. Mikel; and his sister Carolyn Galey of West Tennessee. He is survived by: his wife Betty Tharp of Cades Tennessee; his children, Jeannie L. Galey of Atlanta, GA, Joe Thomas Galey, Jr. (Becky) of Birmingham, AL and Edward A. Galey (Gina); and his granddaughters, Hannah and Emma of Huntsville, AL.. He is also survived by his wife, three children and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested contributions to Gideons International or First Baptist Church TV Ministries.
