She was predeceased by: her parents, Nellie Phillips Hython and Green Wesley Penn; her daughter Tammy Lynn Smallwood; her siblings, Sara Nell Penn, Elaine Steele, Lawrence L. Newton (Fly) and Jerome Foster; and her stepbrother Marvin Penn.
She is survived by: her children, Nancy Louise Butler (Steve) of Virginia, Darlene Carol Zacharias (Charles) of Florida, Charlene Carol Hunt-Miles (James) of Ohio and James Hunt (Leticia) of Texas; her brother Edmund Newton (Rose) of Virginia; her stepbrother Wesley Penn; her grandchildren, Marykay Smallwood (Virginia), Kristina Lynn Ford (Alabama), Thomas Abraham Ford Jr. (Pennsylvania), Latasha Shantel Ford (Virginia), Shanea Renee'Prentice (Ohio), Jasmine Michel'Le Brown (Ohio), Jericia Marie Brown (Ohio), Jordan Mitchel Alderman-Zacharias (Ohio) and Jabari Marcus Alderman-Zacharias (South Carolina); her cousins, Patricia Gamble, Catrina Washington (California), Angela Worthy (Michigan) and Adrian Washington (California); and her daughters, Margaret Fisher, Patricia Fisher and Chesney Jones. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
