He was predeceased by: his former wife Violeta Cuerpo Scogin; his son Terry Michael Scogin; and his parents, Lewis Samuel Scogin and Sallie Widener Scogin. He is survived by: his wife Maria Veloso Scogin; his son Samuel David Scogin (Sue); his sister Betty Whiteley-Warren (Buford); his daughter-in-law Alecia Scogin (Terry); his goddaughter Vivian Hille; and his granddaughters, Shanna Scogin, Amber Crow, Tawnee Clements and Victoria Davis. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
