He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Popwell and Rosa Baker Popwell; his siblings, John "Bill" Popwell, James "Jim" Popwell, Henry "Junior" Popwell of Early Popwell, J. W, William Popwell, Marshall Popwell and Vedie Clackler; and his grandchildren, Wayne Popwell, Jr. and Diana Popwell.
He is survived by: his wife Vonda Langston Popwell; his children, Wayne Popwell, Sr. and Rhonda Straits Rice; his grandchildren, Steven Straits (Corey Anna), Ryan Straits, Thomas Popwell, Samantha Straits, Jonathan Popwell, Raven Rice and Corbin Rice; his great grandchildren, Via "Fox" Straits, Abigail Popwell, Sadie Popwell and Jayden Popwell; and his sister Vera "Polly" Abbott.
