She was predeceased by: her husband John Will; her parents, Leona Smith, and Charles R. Smith, Sr.; her siblings, Betty Carolyn Smith Morton and Charles R. Smith, Jr.; and her grandson Curtis Hollis, II.
She is survived by: her children, Fountain, Park and Molly Anastasia Caylor Hollis (Curtis); and her grandchildren, Abby Hollis and Nicholas Hollis.
She worked to establish the Huntsville City Schools Foundation and was recognized as Superintendent of the Year in 1990 by the Alabama Council of PTA's and in 1991 by the American Association of School Administrators.
