He was predeceased by: his children, Sherman DeWayne Cottrell and Kimberly Renee Cottrell Allen; and his parents, Clyde Cottrell and Mae Cottrell. He is survived by: his wife Elsie Hudson Cottrell; his granddaughter Nicole Allen Johnston; his grandson-in-law Garrett Johnston; his son-in-law Mike Allen; and his sister-in-law Peggy Hudson Brooks.
