She was predeceased by: her daughter Brenda Kay Phillips; and her siblings, Junior Hopkins, Thurman Hopkins (Whitey) and Elizabeth Carr. She is survived by: her children, Larry R. Nash (Mary Jo), Johnny M. Nash and Beverly A. Robertson (Sammy); and her grandchildren, Amanda Medders (Chris), Whitney Looney (Matt), Chelsee Thornton (Cole), Ashley Gibson, Nathan Howdon (Taylor) and John Roy Robertson. She is also survived by seven great grandsons and two great granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Shirley's memory to Huntsville Hospital – Hospice Family Care.
