He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Murphy and Mary Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn; his children, John Murphy (Cristina Murphy), Jessica Gremillion (Todd Gremillion), Cristin Hopkins (Jared Hopkins) and Kevin Murphy; his grandchildren, Jude, Rex Gremillion, Charles Hopkins, Josephine and Liam Murphy; and his sisters, Peggy Hamlin, Anne Taliento and Carolyn Carson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Throughout his career, Stephen made significant contributions to the department of defense.
