He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Matthews; his daughter Leah Minter (Jeff); his stepchildren, Jodi Vandeberg (Kevin), Nancy Shaw (David) and Todd Wilson (Teresa); his siblings, Thomas Matthews (Jewell) and Martha Sentell (Bill); his siblings-in-law, Ray Casey (Sara), Charles Casey (Gaynell) and Jane Hay; his grandson Jeffrey Bruce Minter; and his stepgrandchildren, Tyler Forrester, Courtney Kolbler, Katie Wilson, Jamie Bolton, Kaitlyn Morgan, Trip Morgan, Grey Vandeberg, Max Vandeberg, Trey Shaw and Justin Shaw.
As a member of God's family, Mr. Matthews worshiped at West Side Baptist Church, where he served as a yokefellow until his Parkinson's disease became too disabling.
