He is survived by: his wife Joan Vinson Simpson; his children, Jason Simpson (Margo) and Natalie Johns; his siblings, Dwight Simpson (Diona), Kay Stults (Tony), Rita Hannah (Joe), Donna Wilson (Wayne) and Sissy Simpson; his grandchildren, Kinsey Simpson (Dylan Canerday), Jacey Simpson, Easton Simpson, Austin Johns, Neely Johns and Oakley Watkins; his brother-in-law Greg Vinson (Cathy); and his mother-in-law Dorothy Vinson.
